Speech & Drama Teaching

A particularly rewarding part of John's life is his work with children on courses created by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.  This is usually done on an individual basis, though sometimes pairs of children like to work together  on Duologues. The emphasis is always on performing, though perhaps more importantly, the personal development of children, their growth in confidence and self esteem gained on the journey is a highly valued outcome.  In fact, this aspect is often the reason for parents wanting their children to participate.

The areas of experience I offer in this context are:

Reading for Performance
Learning how to present text to an audience.

Solo Acting
The performance of monogue from memory.

The Speaking of Verse & Prose
Performance of poetry and prose from memory.

Performing short play extracts from memory with another person.

Musical Theatre
Performing songs from Musical Theatre.

Devising Drama
Writing and performing either as an individual or with another person.
